Mixed weather conditions led to result dissatisfaction for Jackson at Knockhill

The fourth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship took centre stage in late June following a number of restful weeks for the riders. Yet the sunshine was nowhere to be seen as cloud rolled in, giving way to windy and wet conditions on the Scottish 1.3 mile track at Knockhill.

It was a tough weekend for the Buildbase BMW team as Jackson struggled to find his footing on the circuit, though managed to qualify in 18th position for race one. Fair conditions meant the Lincolnshire rider finished in 13th position and added three points to his total score.

But the weather turned for the worse in race two with spray from the rain hitting the ground and blasting the racers as they rounded the circuit. While Buildbase BMW team mate Cooper gained some excess speed and finished in 7th, Jackson fought hard to keep his position and towed the line in 15th.

“Obviously these aren’t the results I’m looking for,” the number 14 rider said, reflecting on the two races. “Big thanks to the team for working hard on bike set-up throughout the weekend. With the mixed conditions it was hard to make a step forward, making it a difficult weekend. Onwards and upwards for the next round, hopefully there’ll be some good weather too!”

Supporting the team, Buildbase BMW manager Steve Hicken said: “We were the top BMW in both superbike races, the conditions were not ideal but both Lee and Richard had strong races taking points to boost their places on the leaderboard. Let’s hope we have a dry weekend at Snetterton.”

The MCE British Superbike Championship continues from July 8 – 10, with the fifth round taking place at Snetterton race circuit, which is just ten miles north-east of Thetford, Norfolk. Make sure to stay up to date with Lee and the team on both Facebook and Twitter.
